Dominion or Oppression.

So lately, I have been thinking about how the drive of humankind (Man) has pushed us to encroach into the land and territory or wild animals and also cause drastic change in the vegetation and climate of various places.
I talked about this with several individuals and one of the most reoccurring responses i heard was "God said we should have dominion over the land and every beast". I ended up generating a problem with that response. Quoting the specific verse which is Genesis 1:28 which says "Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fowl of the air and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth". so taking a look at some of the words here the Lord said be fruitful and multiply, i can say that yes we as humans are doing well in the fruitfulness and multiplication as a species but i have been taught that being fruitful doesn't just end there, and in the cutting down of trees for and the unearthing of various minerals among'st other things for production i don't really see fruitfulness and multiplication, Man clearly takes far more than he gives back, and only a very few percentage of the world is becoming aware of the degradation of the ECO system, and focusing on the part of having "DOMINION", my response to that is "The lord said take dominion not spread oppression". There's a clear difference between the two words, Dominion in this context is not letting anything walk over you, It's you being incharge. Oppression on the other hand is taking that power too far and using it to trample over others, and i believe that is exactly what man is doing, we've taken this dominion thing to the point where we clear out massive areas of vegetation in order to build new cities, factories, e.t.c. Without actually taking into consideration the wildlife around us, that in any way of looking at it is pretty much unfair, Man takes away their homes and land they have been living in for years and doesn't flinch at his own coldness, ("That's harsh").
It's gotten to the point that many animals around us now are on the brink of extinction, the animals we don't hear of anymore are already gone.
Take for example, human move in and clear vast areas of grass land and drive out animals that can only survive in grasslands, the next patch of grassland the animals can move to that is big enough to accommodate them without disrupting the ECO system of that area is most likely a state or two away, most of them aren't going to make it there and some of the animals try moving to a new location like a forest, being alien to the environment some or all of them would die from various reasons.
All in all, what i'm trying to pass across is that we'er moving too far, if you're going to use the bible to defend your actions take note the bible also says be empathetic, have a heart.
So try not to squish the next insect that runs across your kitchen floor.

Dominion not Oppression.
